20121222 We like Smugmug

We like Smugmug, and I am glad to share some info with you. I take lots of pictures and so do some of my children. Some use her Phones as it is easier for her than a camera.

Below is some info on Smugmug. Let me know what questions it  raises, etc.

There are so many advantages with Smugmug, I think,  over other services, below a few off the top of my head but first go to one to test.http://donredding.smugmug.com/Ancestors-Family-Relatives-and/Don/201105-05-10/16991425_JD7pZv#!i=1289918499&k=DmX55Dj
play with it some and try some of the tools/tabs  at the top of the page to see different sizes and different arrangements. (NO video yet)Watch the video (both are same , I did in two different ways, click the arrow on a picture for video, duh you know that) and then read my notes below:

  • one of best things is you can try free for a while for two weeks, no credit card required
  • no ads for one,
  • can send pictures there  by computer and cellphones
  • takes videos  up to 20 minutes (have to send from a computer, heck, this is my biggest complaint as  I wanted to send from our cell phone but will not work; I have been working on them about this)
  • they create many different sizes of pictures to view, in many different ways,
  • can make public or private
  • lets one "collect pictures" from some one else, ie I can have a gallery and also put on Linda's Smugmug in a fraction of the time to upload by "collecting"
  • Excellent customer service, fun people to deal with.
  • no limits on how many pictures put there or how big(well there is a gigantic limit on picture size but they never been a bother for most pictures we use)
  • Can create books or order pictures off Smugmug, as I think you saw from the one of my daughters wedding.
  • It is a great filing system, fior example I have some VIP papers on Smugmug with a password or set to not even show except when I am signed in
  • The organization is a category on top, the subcategory under it, the Galleries with the pictures in the galleries.
  • Now that I have written this far I remember I have a blog on the same subject if you want to see.
  • to try free  for 14 days go to Click here  https://secure.smugmug.com/signup.mg

Buzzy was born on February 7, 1964.  After graduating from Watauga High School, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in Radio, TV, and Motion Pictures.  Buzz was a talented musician and loved playing Elton John songs on the piano.  After graduation, he ran an audio video business and later served as a Captain at the North Carolina Detective Agency.  In recent years Buzz worked in the land scaping business.  He was quite knowledgeable about landscaping and handy work and had a knack for working with tools and fixing things.  Buzz had a very sweet nature and loved his family and friends deeply.  Buzz, his Mom, and his Grandmother, Hazie, shared a deep love of music.  He and his Dad enjoyed going to football and basketball games at UNC and went to two final four tournaments together, including Dean Smith's first NCAA Championship.
Buzz is survived by his parents, Donald Sanborn Redding, Sr. of Charlotte and Frances Strickland Redding of Raleigh, and his two sisters, Sally Redding Hanchett of Bloomington, Indiana, and Julie Redding Schotzinger of Raleigh and their families, including four nephews and three nieces.
