How to Send Pictures from Your Cell Phone to Your Computer

Do you want to send the pictures taken on your cell phone to your computer? Here's how to do it.

Edit Steps

MMS Method

1. 1
Send your photo as an MMS message. MMS (multimedia messaging service) allows you to send your photo to other cell phones or to email addresses. Each cell phone is different, but you should have an option to share your photo via message.
• Be aware that if you're on a plan that charges per text, an MMS will count as a text.
2. 2
Enter your email address. Instead of entering another cell phone number in the Send To field, though, input your email address.
3. 3
Send the photo.
4. 4
Login to your email and download the photo. When you open your email account, you should see a message sent from your phone, with the photo as an attachment. Download the attachment, and the photo will be on your computer.

USB Cable Method

1. 1
Find or purchase a USB cable for your phone. Most phones you purchase now will come with a USB cable that allows it to be connected directly to your computer. If your phone didn't come with one, search online for a new or used one you can buy, or contact your phone's manufacturer.
2. 2
Plug your phone into your computer. Make sure the phone is on.
3. 3
Open up iTunes, or open the phone's files the same way you would open a flash drive. #*If you use iTunes to manage files on your phone, simply press the drop arrow next to your phone on the left-hand sidebar. Double-click photos, and drag what you want onto your desktop or into a new folder.
• If you don't use iTunes, open your phone like you would any detachable drive. Click My Computer or Finder to locate it. Drag and drop any photos you want to your desktop or a new folder.
Sometime on Android phones the windows will not install the required software so you should install it manually from the internet or via CD.

Sync Method

1. 1
Sync your phone. The photos you take should automatically be transferred to your computer when you do.
• On an iPhone, plugging in the device will prompt the computer to open iPhoto or a similar Photo application, which will display the pictures you took on your iPhone. Choose to upload the photos.

Memory Card Method

1. 1
Insert a memory card into your phone. Before you take any pictures, check to see if you can insert a memory card into your phone. Many phones use a micro memory card that comes with the phone and can be inserted and removed at will.
2. 2
Make sure your phone saves the pictures to the memory card rather than to the device.
3. 3
A type of memory card reader.

20130210 Send text messages as emails

Note: Many cell phone carriers allocate e-mail addresses to their customers' phone numbers to enable them receive e-mail text messages. If you know the carrier of the cell phone you want to send text messages to, you can use it instead of the teleflip.com domain name. Here are the domain names of some of the more popular carriers:
• Alltel: @message.alltel.com
• Nextel: @messaging.nextel.com
• Sprint: @messaging.sprintpcs.com
• SunCom: @tms.suncom.com
• T-mobile: @tmomail.net
• VoiceStream: @voicestream.net
• Verizon: @vtext.com (text only) or @vzwpix.com (photos and video) [source: Slipstick Systems]. //]]]]> ]]>

20130128 Smugmug Sizes- Fix when they diasappear

Sizes: S · M · Large · XL · X2 · X3 · O · Auto ·
Sometimes the above disappears in Firefox (no other instances in 0other browsers) and the fix is:

I cleaned the cache in Firefox using CCleaner and no help, I then cleaned cookies in Firefox and it fixed it to show the sizes as above by clicking clear your recent history. Better to clear history here as leaves some history elsewhere..

20121222 We like Smugmug

We like Smugmug, and I am glad to share some info with you. I take lots of pictures and so do some of my children. Some use her Phones as it is easier for her than a camera.

Below is some info on Smugmug. Let me know what questions it raises, etc.

There are so many advantages with Smugmug, I think, over other services, below a few off the top of my head but first go to one to test.http://donredding.smugmug.com/Ancestors-Family-Relatives-and/Don/201105-05-10/16991425_JD7pZv#!i=1289918499&k=DmX55Dj
play with it some and try some of the tools/tabs at the top of the page to see different sizes and different arrangements. (NO video yet)Watch the video (both are same , I did in two different ways, click the arrow on a picture for video, duh you know that) and then read my notes below:

• one of best things is you can try free for a while for two weeks, no credit card required
• no ads for one,
• can send pictures there by computer and cellphones
• takes videos up to 20 minutes (have to send from a computer, heck, this is my biggest complaint as I wanted to send from our cell phone but will not work; I have been working on them about this)
• they create many different sizes of pictures to view, in many different ways,
• can make public or private
• lets one "collect pictures" from some one else, ie I can have a gallery and also put on Linda's Smugmug in a fraction of the time to upload by "collecting"
• Excellent customer service, fun people to deal with.
• no limits on how many pictures put there or how big(well there is a gigantic limit on picture size but they never been a bother for most pictures we use)
• Can create books or order pictures off Smugmug, as I think you saw from the one of my daughters wedding.
• It is a great filing system, fior example I have some VIP papers on Smugmug with a password or set to not even show except when I am signed in
• The organization is a category on top, the subcategory under it, the Galleries with the pictures in the galleries.
• Now that I have written this far I remember I have a blog on the same subject if you want to see.
