    • Janie mentioned some issues of etiquette:
      • Hearing and Speaking in class room - Please speak up whether in the back or front to be sure all members hear what is said. Also, a suggestion was made that the teacher should repeat the question or comment and speakers might stand be to heard better.
      • When waiting between Sanctuary services, the noise of people waiting and talking has caused Dr. Howell to step out to ask for quite. Please do not wait in area near the Little Chapel but in the halls above the steps.

      • Rationalization of the scriptures . . . looked at  three parts of Matthew chapter 28 . . good news not always rational or logical, picture not complete. . .Matthew 28 1-10 tells of Marys going to the tomb. . .did not go in . . .fear. . .rolled back the stone . . go and spread the gospel . .

      • Jesus telling of his coming death . .  . why did Jesus insist he would die . . Jesus knew it, the Atonement (which is a  difficult subject for many to understand) . .  terrible sin committed by man . . .God was going to help forgive with  God having a blood sacrifice for sins . . .discussed Spong's reflection on why God would have to have someone die for forgiveness of sins and Spong's problem with it. Not appropriate for God to require Jesus to die . . can Spong still be a Christian.  We do not know why God what  he did  .Darwin and the continuing creation of the world. . .God created man in God's image . . "Judas recent discovery"

      • Reviewed what we had  done so far . .  covered maybe a third of the book so far . . discussed many of the parables . . and applied to today . .  such as the talents and the master/slaves, maybe today  money and the  boss / employee . .  Prodigal son was mentioned though not in Matthew as an example of  parable having more than one  point, though some in class said there was only one point to each parable.
    • Last week Kristin Reinhold(3/26/06) led the discussion of Matthew
      • The scripture was about the  Talents and we discussed how we use our gifts . . the significance of the  one with only one talent hiding it . .God knows we are using our talents . .  someone questioned how the  one with one talent was to be treated... how long was master gone . .  what did they do while gone . .working with others to use  ones talents. . . do not know talents til use them . .  as use they multiply . . do not know the results sometimes of talents  . .

      • The scripture was about the  employer paying the same to workers of different  hours . . this is grace . . done with God's love. . grace did not require that they wanted to work . . .way we are received by God . . must be willing to receive it . .Grace no matter what done . . all paid same, suggests all are equal in heaven. . .place already chosen for us by God. . God loves us all, children of God . . Infinite compassion of God . .God loves unconditionally . . giving a job is better than slavery . .Generosity of God . if did not do work, do they get Grace? . . got to at least show up . .  . .not a reward. . .
