Usually you tube is 15 minutes. If you have an ok account etc. they agree to  longer but not sure how long.

All users have the ability to upload videos up to 15 minutes in length. You can attain the ability to upload longer length videos if:

On the upload page, click the link to Increase your limit to be prompted to verify your account. If you do not have the option to verify your account, or if you lose your access to long uploads, the best first step is to check your account for copyright claims and strikes. Eligible users can also use this link to increase their limit.

Using the most up to date version of Google Chrome, Firefox 4 or higher, or Internet Explorer (with Silverlight enabled) grants you access to powerful new uploading features:
  • Ability to upload large files, of up to 20GB in size
  • Ability to resume or recover stalled or cancelled uploads
If you have the ability to upload longer length video, the most effective way to upload large files is to simply use an up to date version of one of these browsers, visit the upload page, and upload your file as usual. There is no need to use the Java uploader for larger files or resumability. The processes outlined below are the best way to ensure your upload is successful.

Recoverable and longer length uploading with Chrome and Firefox

Chrome and Firefox 4+ users can not only upload files of a size up to 20GB, but it is also possible to resume uploads if your connection drops, and recover uploads even if you leave the page. When you return to the upload page and attempt the same file again, the progress bar will jump to where it was before.
This provides a seamless experience even if you face serious uploading complications. Here are examples of situations where your progress will be preserved:
  • Uploads interrupted due to network errors (such as your internet connection dropping) are automatically retried in the background. As soon as the connection is back, uploads continue transmitting from where they were interrupted.
  • Additionally, if your browser or computer crashes, and you return to upload the same file again, your previous upload will be recovered and you will not lose progress. The chunks of the file are saved for several hours, so you don’t even have to reattempt your upload immediately.
If these features do not work, first ensure that you have an up to date version of Google Chrome or Firefox 4 or higher. Only up to date browsers are capable of using these new features.

YouTube supports a wide variety of the range of video and audio formats in use. You can get a quick overview of what may be an issue with your video's formatting by taking a look at the warnings and error messages that we communicate to you while you're uploading your video.

Here is a list of some well-known formats that YouTube supports:

  • WebM files - Vp8 video codec and Vorbis Audio codecs
  • .MPEG4, 3GPP and MOV files - Typically supporting h264, mpeg4 video codecs, and AAC audio codec
  • .AVI - Many cameras output this format - typically the video codec is MJPEG and audio is PCM
  • .MPEGPS - Typically supporting MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio
  • .WMV
  • .FLV - Adobe-FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio

Here is a list of some common formats that YouTube does NOT support:

Tips and notes:
  • We prefer that you upload your video in the original format and in the highest quality possible.
  • We prefer de-interlaced files.
  • Audio and video lengths should be the same and audio should begin at the same time as the video.
